About Dr. Sarah Lawley

I am an independent energy consultant based in Melbourne, Australia, with over 20 years of experience in the mining and energy industries. My career spans roles in government, industry, and consulting, including in radiation protection, uranium mining, energy markets, risk management, data centres and energy contracting. Within the energy sector I have spent many years working in market risk management for energy retailers and generators seeking to hedge their energy positions. Coupled with a PhD in physics, this experience has given me a strong technical foundation in electricity and a broad professional network.

In addition to managing electricity portfolios for energy companies, I have overseen energy supply for a major data centre company – a role that covers energy contracting, network infrastructure development, strategic risk management, and broadening counterparty and stakeholder relationships.

I am a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Energy (AIE) and an active member of the Australian Institute of Physics (AIP) and the Australasian Radiation Protection Society (ARPS). I also serve as a Director and Deputy Chair of the Coalition for Conservation, an environmental charity, and as a Director of E-Australasia, an energy advisory focussed on supporting developing countries in the Australasian region.
